Hello, Cat Exchange creator! I can’t express how much I love this exchange, because I LOVE my favorite characters adopting pets! Cats are the focus here, but if you wanna toss in a dog, a ferret, a bird, a lizard too, whatever, I’m down! Strong stoic characters caring for a cute little kitten - yes, please!

I also REALLY REALLY REALLY would love art for this exchange. Characters cuddling cats, turning into cats, playing with cat toys, whatever, I’m here for it! I’m big into sweet and fluffy shit; people gazing into each other’s eyes, kisses, close ups of hands and pretty scenery, bold colors. I have some generic art likes below.

This letter isn’t as detailed as my others; feel free to peruse past letters to see the ins and outs of various prompts you can include, etc. Consider everything a suggestion; I am typically very easy to please. I like a lot of things (as you can probably tell from my sign-up), and I’m sure I’ll love whatever you come up with! If you have some inspiration from my freeforms that take you in a different direction than what I might write in the prompt; go for it!

I enjoy any rating, from general to smut and everything in between. I would like some shippiness in my gift, at least a dash of romance or a kiss. Tropes I Like:
A/B/O - I generally enjoy A/B/O, usually when there is an emphasis on the courtship phase of it. I don’t have many preferences around who is Alpha/Beta/Omega, but I do want there to be consent and enjoyment between the pairs as they get together. IE no forced mating, etc.I really enjoy smut in this setting, as well as emphasis on mating bites and scents.

Fake Dating - Nnnnggghh. Be it for a mission or to impress a relative or to get a ticket to an exclusive event where you have to be with someone - I’m down. Give me all the awkward first kisses that turn out way better than you thought it would. This trope also goes amazingly well with ‘Only One Bed.’

First Time with Partner of Same Gender - I love the idea of Character A not realizing they are into the same gender until Character B came along. Give me all the hesitant, unsure looks and possible flirting, the want to touch but unsure how, and just general confusion about their sexuality and feeling that chemistry they never expected to feel with the same gender.

Kink Discovery - I really enjoy a character experiencing a kink for the first time, maybe something they never really thought about before, and discovering how much they really enjoy it.

Only One Bed - God I adore this so much. You have no idea. Those moments where they want to touch but aren’t sure, gradually moving towards each other? Yes plz.

Sex Pollen - I’m all in on this one. Many of my fandoms have magic or some kind of other worldly element where they can stumble upon a horny spell or plant. Give me that delicious frantic sex, followed by awkwardness and tension until they admit all.

Shop AU - I LOVE shop AU’s. Coffee shops, magic shops, book stores, retail shops - I’m down for it. I’m fine if the gang works at one, or one MC works at the shop and the other is a customer.

Jack Hunter/Eric Matthews & Cat - GOD, these two. They dated the best Disney would let them. Check out this video if you missed all the subtext. I beg of you to give us another look at what could have happened with these two if things were just a little bit different. I’d also be fine if you want to lean into the earlier seasons of Eric, where he wasn’t quite as dumb as the later seasons.

What I love about Jack and Eric is how silly they are, how much they help each other grow throughout the series, and their chemistry. I’d love to read about an established relationship between these two where they are adopting a cat together, or a cat adopts them. Or maybe an asshole cat shows up one day and somehow gets them together.

Crossover Fandom

Alpine & Liho & Lucky & Bucky Barnes & Clint Barton & Natasha Romanoff (MCU/616), Alpine the Cat (616) & James "Bucky" Barnes (MCU), Alpine the Cat & Bucky Barnes (MCU/616), Alpine the Cat & Liho the Cat & Lucky the Dog (MCU/616) - I love all of these characters, and I’d love to see a friendship among them and their pets. Stick to comics canon for how they got them, mix it with MCU, whatever, I’m good with it, as long as there are some happy times with their pets. I’d love to see them adopting their pets (or their pets adopting them), or everyone living in the tower and how their animals all get along.

Fifth Element (1997)

Korben Dallas/Leeloo & Sweetie - I love this movie, and I LOVE Sweetie! I’d love to see Korben introducing Sweetie to Leeloo, and both Leeloo and Sweetie adjusting to life together. Or you can go AU and have Korben and Leeloo adopting Sweetie together, or maybe have Korben telling Leeloo about how Sweetie came into his life.

The Magicians (TV)

Quentin Coldwater/Eliot Waugh & Cat - This is a major OTP for me, the pair that inspired me to first write fic. I hold them close to my heart, and will never get tired of reading of their hapless pining and drama. I’d LOVE to read about these two adopting a cat, be it on Earth or in Fillory (I’d love to see a Fillorian animal rescue, especially with the talking animals). You could also set this in mosaic times as well.

I love their chemistry, Q’s awkwardness and how much Eliot adores it, Eliot’s insecurity and how Quentin soothes it, the tall vs. small, and how they want to be the best they can be for each other. I would love any fic written about these two and their cat - getting together, established relationship, whatever.

Quentin Coldwater & Cat!Eliot Waugh, Quentin Coldwater & Cat!Penny Adiyodi, Quentin Coldwater/Eliot Waugh & Cat!Margo Hanson - I grouped all the non-ships together. I’d love to see someone accidentally get turned into a cat (so likely at Brakebills), or maybe Bastet decides she wants to play with the gang, or someone is a cat person and they’ve been hiding it. Cat!Penny annoying the fuck out of Quentin delights me so much, as does Cat!Margo interrupting Quentin and Eliot from having sex. Or maybe she uses her catform to help get them together.

Marvel Cinematic Universe

Clint Barton/Phil Coulson/Natasha Romanov & Cat, Clint Barton/Phil Coulson & Cat - Clint and Phil are my favorite pairing from the MCU, and the ship of my life at the moment. I love adding Natasha to the mix as well. I do prefer the Matt Fraction Hawkeye, but I’d be fine with the MCU Clint, minus the family, lol. You could have Laura and the kids be Barney’s family, and I’m also fine with the farm existing. I also don’t care if Clint’s hair is blond or brown. Feel free to include Pizza Dog.

I really love the power dynamic here, the handler/asset relationship and how that affects their relationship. I love it when these two are competent in the field, and not so competent in their love lives. Mutual pining, UST that turns into RST, long lingering looks - that’s my jam with these ships. I’d love to see them rescuing cats while on a mission, adopting pets together, and adjusting to live with pets. Bring in Lucky, Liho, or make up your own cat to mix in. I have lotsof info in prior letters on all kinds of prompts I’d love with these characters.

James "Bucky" Barnes/Sam Wilson & Cat, Alpine the Cat (616) & James "Bucky" Barnes/Sam Wilson (MCU) - I am so soft for these two, and add Alpine to the mix (or any cat) and I am done.. I love how they snark and snipe at each other, and I’d love any fic where these two find their way to each other (maybe with Alpine’s help).
The banter and arguing is key for me between these two—the UST that they don’t want to admit exists that comes out in snark and attitude. At least in the MCU universe, I definitely see these two as not admitting their feelings to each other unless they are pushed/have to.

I am from Louisiana, so I am partial to fics set there (as long as you don’t talk about them going to the bayou every other sentence. Really we don’t hang out at the bayou as often as the TV thinks we do). No matter what kind of AU you write, I’d like for Bucky to only have one arm (I’m fine with him having whatever kind of prosthetic you want him to have, including not having one at all).

Natasha Romanov/Steve Rogers & Cat - I love this pairing. I just love Natasha falling for Steve, and Steve being caught off guard. What I enjoy about these two are, besides their smoking chemistry, the fact that they both seem rather lost at times. Natasha with her red ledger, and Steve being out of his own time.

I’d love to read about them adopting pets together, or rescuing cats while on missions. Maybe everyone lives in the tower, and Liho takes a liking to Steve, and a pining Natasha has to deal with always pulling Liho out of Steve’s lap when she just wants to climb in it herself. I REALLY love the idea of cats adopting either one of these characters. I’d also love an AU, mundane or super-powered, where Steve and Nat are living a quiet life together and a pregnant cat shows up in their barn or basement.

Matt Murdock/Natasha Romanov & Cat, Peter Parker/Yelena Belova & Cat, Yelena Belova/Kate Bishop & Cat - These are all new requests for me. The Peter/Yelena one kind of knocked me over the head. I’d love to explore these relationship dynamics with cats, and how they would deal with a cat and each other. Since these are new ships, I’m still figuring out what I like the most about them and would love to read your take on them!

Clint Barton & Cat!Phil Coulson, Clint Barton/Phil Coulson & Cat!Natasha Romanov, Phil Coulson & Cat!Clint Barton - I’d love to see the Avengers reacting to one of their own turning into a cat, either by magic or accident or they have always been able to turn into a cat and just never told anyone. I really love the prompt about confessing feelings for a character while they are in their cat form, that’s right up my alley. Also love the prompt about a normally icy character turning all soft and affectionate as a cat.

Mayor of Kingstown (TV)

Iris/Mike McClusky & Cat, Mike McClusky & Cat, Mike McClusky & Iris & Cat - This is a new fandom request for me. These are very dark, complex characters, and I’d love to see how their lives change with a cat included. I’d love to read about Mike rescuing an injured cat or kitten - you know he’d try to walk away, but there is no way he’d be able to turn his back on a cute, wounded animal. I’d really enjoy seeing the cat live at the office. I could see Rebecca offering to call animal control, and Mike is like, “No… it can stay here. Just. Feed the damn thing.” And then the cat becomes Mike’s best friend and he lets it sleep on his desk and Rebecca catches him giving the cat neck scritches.

I could also see a cat coming upon Mike’s cabin and becoming Iris’s BFF. I would be okay with platonic or shippy fic between these two, whatever your muse brings you, though I would not want any ship fic that does not at least mention/recognize Iris’s past sexual assault and her recovery from that. (IE you don’t have to get super in-depth about it, but don’t pretend it just didn’t happen. Even a one-line mention of her in therapy about it or whatever would be fine. I know, these characters would never get therapy…)
