Fairy Tale Inspired Exchange 2021

Hello Fairy Tale Exchange creator! Thank you for gifting, here are some things that work (and don’t) for me (for this exchange, anyway).

First off, I want to give you full permission to play with any myth/fairy tale however you want. I do want a happy ending (no tragic fairy tales, please), but you can adapt it however you want. You’ll notice I put Snow White for most of these, mainly because I wanted to use the “True Love’s Kiss” trope. But feel free to adapt that as you wish - “True Love’s Wand!” “True Love’s Loaf of Bread!” And I would love you FOREVER if you changed it to “True Love’s Dick!” Like SO MUCH. But I would really like it if all parties were awake and consensual to the application of True Love (sorry Sleeping Beauty and Snow White).

My favorite creatures are unicorns. Seriously if you write a story where the only thing from my list is the unicorn, I’ll be happy.

My favorite trope is soulmates. Feel free to do anything with the red string of fate/greek soulmates myth. I’ll love it no matter what you do.

I also enjoy smut, but I will also be completely happy with a teen rating as well.

Smut-Specific Likes: In general, BDSM, D/S dynamics with Gentle doms, women dominating men in het ships, laughing, both people just having a good time, Marking/claiming a partner; grabbing and pulling hair, Sex scenes focusing on foreplay/aftercare/afterglow, For M/M, I’m fine with anal, frottage, rimming, blow jobs, hand jobs, etc. - as long as it’s not on my DNW or edges close to that.

The Magicians

Quentin Coldwater/Eliot Waugh (Magicians)

My favorite of these pairings is definitely Queliot - Quentin/Eliot. However I would be very happy with any of the ones on this list. Especially if you use a unicorn, it would be great to go with Margo/Alice for that one - since Alice loves horses so much.

I do want Quentin to be alive, or be alive at the end of the story, no matter what pairing you choose.

The thing with Magicians is that since the universe is magical and Fillory is a thing, there’s SO MUCH you can do with these. You can set a fic in Fillory and have any of these creatures, or have some Fillorian creatures make their way over into Earth - go crazy!

Creatures - Unicorn - made for Alice!

Creatures - Vampires - would love a vampire AU where any of our magicians are turned into Vampires! Sexy vampires preferably.

Creatures - Werewolves - You can definitely amp up the lore here, add more to the werewolves than we got in the series.

Creatures - Witch - Remember that witch that took Quentin’s blood? Whatever the fuck happened with that? Maybe she uses it to generate a red thread of fate for Quentin? Or generate a soulmate? Who knows?

Creatures - Centaur - I would love any of the gang running into these in Fillory. Maybe they proposition one of our gang. Put a curse on them. Who knows. Chaos ensues.

Creatures - Djinn - We’ve already seen a djinn in the TM universe - maybe they bring one back to bring Quentin back to life. Or to just have sexy fun times with their wishes.

Creatures - Fairy - Also in the TM universe, but you can feel free to utilize any form of fairies you wish (good fairies? Fairies with eyebrows? Go for it.)

Creatures - Dragons - Also already in the universe. Maybe Quentin has a quest to capture and ride a dragon, or he finds a baby dragon while walking in Fillory and takes it as a pet. And it burns down the Cottage. 

Myth - Red Thread of Fate, Myth - Double-Being Soulmates (Greek) - I love the soulmate trope, and would love to see it utilized for any pairings here.

Myth - Orpheus & Eurydice, Myth - Cerberus and the Gates to the Underworld, Myth - Hades and Persephone - Well. With the Underworld being real in this show, you can really play with these. I’d love to see Quentin or Eliot confronting Cerberus to get into the Underworld for whatever reason. Orpheus/Eurydice is pretty much self-explanatory. And Hades & Persephone are in the show, but maybe Julia is selected to become Hades new bride. What would her friends do?

Myth - Eros and Psyche - This would make a lovely Fillory AU. With any pairing, one of them brought as a sacrifice to a Fillorian god, and they wake up with their in a beautiful cottage (*cough* mosaic *cough). Take it from there - stick to the myth, or do your own thing. 

Myth - Pyramus and Thisbe - Another one that would be great changed up a bit for Earth/Fillory. Maybe Eliot is High King, trapped in Fillory, Quentin can’t get to him from Earth, but they can only speak to each other through the clock or an enchanted cell phone (not bunnies, let’s give them a break). 

Myth - Pygmalion - I love the idea of one of our characters falling in love with a sculpture or painting they made. I can totally see this for Quentin/Eliot, Quentin/Eliot/Margo, or even Kady/Julia. 

Fairy Tale - Hansel and Gretel - This mainly makes me think of the witch that took Quentin’s blood. Maybe she’s wants it for some evil deeds, and our characters have to get it back?

Fairy Tale - Peter Pan - Mainly the concept of Fillory = Neverland intrigues me, especially if Eliot lures Quentin over. I would like everyone aged up for this, no children please.

Fairy Tale - The Travelling Companion - I fell in love with this fairy tale - of a character that is kind and generous, and attracts the attention of a magical traveler that helps them achieve their goals. Maybe in this one, they fall in love with the companion instead of the princess at the end of the story?

Legend - King Arthur - I put this in mainly for Julia and Quentin. Feel free to work them into the legends, they can time travel back to when this happened, sub Q for King Arthur - go nuts!

The Falcon and the Winter Soldier

James "Bucky" Barnes/Sam Wilson (F&WS) - I have all the heart eyes for this pairing. Looking for tender and sweet inspired stories for these two, full of adventure. 

Creatures - Unicorn, Creatures - Centaur, Creatures - Demons, Creatures - Djinn, Creatures - Dragons, Creatures - Ghosts, Creatures - Valkyrie, Creatures - Phoenix - It would be fun to see these two searching for or dealing with any of these creatures. You can refer to these creates as they may exist within the Marvel universe (IE the Asgardian Valkyrie’s would be fine), or make up whatever world you want. 

Myth - Red Thread of Fate, Myth - Double-Being Soulmates (Greek) - I’m a huge fan of the soulmate trope. You could apply it however you like to these two - marks, fate, a magic spell Dr. Strange hits them with on accident and whoops, you’re soulmate, who knew? 

Myth - Orpheus & Eurydice - I love the idea of maybe Bucky sacrificing himself for Sam, and Sam makes the trek to pull him back.Or you can do some kind of time travel twist on this if you like.

Myth - Pygmalion - An AU where one of these two creates a sculpture or the like of the other would be so cool. Or maybe do some kind of reversal thing where one of them gets turned into stone/statue/painting and the other realizes his feelings while trying to restore them. Bend it however you want!

Fairy Tale - Snow White - including this one mainly for the “True Love’s Kiss” trope. But you could do some kind of AU where the seven dwarves are other Avengers, lol.

fairy tale - Beauty and the Beast - could do a straight AU with Beast Bucky, or take inspiration where Bucky feels that he’s a beast, unloveable, and Sam has to wake him up from that.

Fairy Tale - The Tinderbox - with the possibilities of magic and magical artifacts in this universe, this would be cool - maybe Sam or Bucky have a magical item that helps them, or maybe it calls them to each other. 

Fairy Tale - The Travelling Companion - I fell in love with this fairy tale - of a character that is kind and generous, and attracts the attention of a magical traveler that helps them achieve their goals. Maybe in this one, they fall in love with the companion instead of the princess at the end of the story? I could definitely see Bucky as the gruff, yet kind traveler that helps out a stranger, and draws the attention of Sam.

Original Work

Myth - Original Story, Legend - Original Story, Fairy Tale - Original Story, Fable - Original Story, Legend - Any, Myth - Any, Fairy Tale - Any, Fable - Any, Myth - Any (Ancient Greek) - When I say “any” or “original story” I mean it - feel free to go nuts with this OW. As long as you give me a fairy-tale with a happy ending that takes my DNW into account, I’ll love it. The other tags for this are just more ideas for things I enjoy. I would prefer M/M or F/F for these pairings.

Boy Cursed to Live as Girl Until Someone Loves Him Both Ways/Prince Breaking a Different Curse (OW) - Oh, I love this so much. You could make them soulmates, maybe the cursed boy has a pet unicorn. Maybe you could do a beauty and the beast take on this, and the prince also owns a tattoo shop. So many things you could do here!

Magical Tattoo Artist/Nervous Client (OW), Magical Tattoo Artist/Client That Wants to Ask Them Out But Just Keeps Getting Tattoos Instead (OW), Flower Shop Owner/Tattoo Shop Owner (OW) - Ok, these were my noms lol. I kind of love magical tattoos, and maybe you could toss in a soulmate trope with these two. Magical tattoo ideas - breathe underwater, see in the dark, hold your breath longer, run faster, jump higher, etc. You could also have one of them be an Elf or any kind of creature. I would prefer M/M or F/F for these pairings.

Smooth-Talking Barista/Nervous Customer that Just Wants to Avoid all their Allergies (OW) - another personal nom; another you could play with a soulmate trope. I would prefer M/M or F/F for these pairings.

Creatures - Unicorn, Creatures - Elf, Creatures - Dragons, Creatures - Phoenix - Just a few of my favorite creatures, can work in as you wish. 

Myth - Red Thread of Fate, Myth - Double-Being Soulmates (Greek) - Again, I love soulmates. Can’t go wrong here with me.

Fairy Tale - Sleeping Beauty, fairy tale - Beauty and the Beast, Fairy Tale - The Travelling Companion, Fairy Tale - Stardust, Myth - Pygmalion - again, just more of my favorite fairy tales/tropes that can be utilized.

Buffy the Vampire Slayer

Willow Rosenberg & Buffy Summers (BtVS), Faith Lehane/Buffy Summers (BtVS), Faith Lehane/Willow Rosenberg (BtVS) - I love the dynamic between these pairings - would love any kind of experienced/inexperienced pairing between any of these ladies. Since magic is inherent in this universe, the possibilities are so large. You can apply any fairy-tale elements to this world to craft whatever you like!

Creatures - Vampires, Creatures - Unicorn, Creatures - Werewolves, Creatures - Dragons, Creatures - Elf, Creatures - Phoenix, Creatures - Centaur, Creatures - Djinn, Creatures - Demons, Creatures - Witch, Creatures - Valkyrie - These are a few of my favorite creatures that I would love to see any story. Maybe Buffy finds a baby dragon in the cemetery and has to take it home to Willow to deal with? Maybe Faith has always loved unicorns, and she finds a Hellmouth unicorn one day (hey, it can be evil and cute). Demons and vampire are a natural match, but go crazy!

Myth - Orpheus & Eurydice - We’ve seen Buffy die and come back. Maybe Buffy did get sucked into an evil world, and Faith or Willow has to go rescue her. Or maybe Buffy is the rescuer here.

Myth - Double-Being Soulmates (Greek) - I love soulmate tropes! I’d love anything written with my pairings and this trope.

fairy tale - Beauty and the Beast - This can be tweaked where the beast is a vampire - maybe Buffy/Faith/Willow gets turned, and the power of love can make her human again.

Fairy Tale - The Travelling Companion - I fell in love with this fairy tale - of a character that is kind and generous, and attracts the attention of a magical traveler that helps them achieve their goals. Maybe in this one, they fall in love with the companion instead of the princess at the end of the story? I could easily see Buffy/Faith as the kind traveler, and Willow as the witch that appears to help them along the way.

Myth - Pyramus and Thisbe, Fairy Tale - Stardust, Myth - Pygmalion - A few other favorite tales that I would to see with these pairings.

The Vampire Diaries

Caroline Forbes/Klaus Mikaelson (TVD), Bonnie Bennett/Damon Salvatore (TVD) - I love these enemies to lovers pairings. The banter and chemistry is my favorite. The VD universe already has magic and vampires, so you can easily pull in other creatures or tales from other dimensions. It also has an “other side” that can be easily be used in some of the underworld myths.

Creatures - Vampires, Creatures - Unicorn, Creatures - Werewolves, Creatures - Demons

Creatures - Djinn, Creatures - Witch, Creatures - Angels, Creatures - Fairy, Creatures - Ghosts - A few of my favorite creatures. Caroline loves horses, so unicorns are a great match for her. In this universe, anything goes, so have fun with it!

Fairy Tale - Snow White - True love’s kiss. Let’s do it!

fairy tale - Beauty and the Beast - This can be tweaked where the beast is a vampire. Damon/Klaus would make excellent beasts in this scenario. Feel free to change it up so it’s not so much Stockholm’s syndrome (but I’m also fine w/ the original fairy tale as is).

Fairy Tale - The Travelling Companion -  I fell in love with this fairy tale - of a character that is kind and generous, and attracts the attention of a magical traveler that helps them achieve their goals. Maybe in this one, they fall in love with the companion instead of the princess at the end of the story? I could easily see Klaus/Damon as the gruff traveler that shows a kind moment, and Bonnie/Carolnie as the witch that appears to help them along the way.

Fairy Tale - Stardust - Caroline was BORN to be a moody, petulant star with a smart-ass mouth. 

Myth - Double-Being Soulmates (Greek) - love me some soulmates. 

Myth - Pygmalion - I would love to see Klaus paint or sculpt Caroline, and then fall in love with her. Maybe add in some dream magic, or some kind of soulmate spell?

Myth - Orpheus & Eurydice, Myth - Cerberus and the Gates to the Underworld - I’d love to see any of these pairings forced to rescue the other - maybe they start as enemies and they have to rescue them in order to save the world (‘cause that happens sometimes) and they fall in love on the way home.

Harry Potter

Hermione Granger/Draco Malfoy (HP), Luna Lovegood/Harry Potter (HP), Hermione Granger/Harry Potter (HP) - Hermione and Draco are one of my favorite enemies to lovers ships, and I would love soulmate tropes for any of these pairings. Luna is everything good in the world, would love to see her happy with Harry.

Creatures - Unicorn, Creatures - Vampires, Creatures - Witch, Creatures - Dragons, Creatures - Centaur, Creatures - Angels, Creatures - Demons, Creatures - Fairy, Creatures - Phoenix, Creatures - Werewolves - Just a few of my favorite creatures.
